  • - The South River Foundation For Educational Excellence (SRFEE) is proud to announce the availability of funds to award one Mini-Grant to each of the four South River Public Schools.     

    It is our sincere hope that our mission statement "to ensure the highest level of educational innovation supporting students, faculty and staff with community involvement and a partnership of lifetime learning" will be kept in mind while formulating ideas for submission of the Grant Applications. 

    Our organization would like to encourage our teachers to be the driving force behind the suggestions for the Grant Applications since they are the direct link to our students in making the magic happen!!  More than one teacher from each building is welcome to apply.

    All Grant Applications must be received no later than Monday, February 29, 2016. 

    The recipients of the SRFEE Mini-Grants will receive an award letter no later than Friday, March 18, 2016.

  • Meeting The Challenge of Raising Healthy, Happy, and "Gritty" Children Presentation - Originally scheduled on February 24th, 6:00-7:30 - High School Auditorium - is rescheduled to March 2, 2016.

    Presented by Jim Grant Parenting is the toughest job you'll ever love!  But don't worry; today's teachers and principals stand ready to support you during these challenging times.  In this session, Jim will discuss family dynamics, including parenting styles, reversing entitlement, resiliency, health, and well-being for your children.  Sharpen your parenting skills with Jim's tips and strategies to strengthen your children's grit, perseverance, and work ethic, and his techniques for reducing an entitlement mindset.  This common-sense approach will help you team with your children's teachers in a win-win partnership.

  • Princeton University Distinguished Secondary School Teaching Award  -  South River High School is proud to nominate Sarah Stout Polakowski for the above award.  Ms. Stout is an exceptional educator who has been a true and tremendous asset to the District through her professionalism, exceptional level of pedagogical skills, dedication, reputable work ethic, willingness to act in a team spirited approach, enrichment of the curriculum through real life applications, and desire to connect with high school students.  She has, over her time here in South River High School, worn many hats and served the District in a variety of capacities which include English Language Arts and Advanced Placement English Literature Teacher, Intervention and Referral Services Mentor, Teacher Leader, Achievement Coach, and student advocate. 

    Ms. Stout Polakowski’s professional contributions as an educator have guided the high school professional teaching staff to explore, plan for, and implement added student engagement strategies as well as standards aligned assessments.  She has served as a state trained achievement coach which has provided the South River High School Professional Teaching Community with an opportunity to learn and grow as a teaching team. In this role, she has trained educators and remains a constant source of support for both staff and administration.

    Teacher leader and mentor represent two additional roles in which she has made an impressive impact on South River High School students. She wholeheartedly and diligently researches and identifies student strengths as well as areas for growth through discussions, data analysis, and observations.  Her interactions with students and staff contain an optimistic tone, positive and inspirational messages, and solution oriented plans of action. Sarah Stout Polakowski is a genuine advocate guiding students to personal and academic success and she is wished the best of luck at the next level.
