Injury/Illness Policies and Procedures
Unfortunately, not all injuries and illness are preventable. This is where the services of an athletic trainer comes into play. In the event of an injury/illness, all athletes must comply with the following policies and procedures.
1. The parent or athlete must report all injuries and/or illnesses to the athletic trainer, whether it occurred at a SR School District sponsored event or at home.
2. Any student athlete that has sustained an injury/illness, whether it occurred at a SR School District sponsored event or at home, and is under the care of a physician must provide written notification, from the attending physician, to the Athletic Trainer stating diagnosis and any restrictions in participation on an athletic team. Once the student athlete has received clearance to return to participation from the treating physician, the student athlete must furnish an additional note to the Athletic Trainer documenting the clearance.
(As stated in the Sports Participation Form as a part of the Athletic Registration)
3. For any medical/dental procedure that an athlete may have undergone, the student athlete must provide written notification, from the attending physician, to the Athletic Trainer stating any restrictions in participation on an athletic team. Once the student athlete has received clearance to return to participation from the treating physician, the student athlete must furnish an additional note to the Athletic Trainer documenting the clearance.
Any athlete that incurs an injury/illness at a SRSD sponsored event who has been treated by the athletic trainer will receive an Athletic Injury Treatment Instruction pamphlet. If you do not receive one, please ask your child for it.
Parents: Please do not ever hesitate to contact the athletic trainer with any questions or concerns via email or office phone.
